Anthropologie: Visual Merchandising Internship
While at Anthropologie, I worked mostly with merchandising apparel. I assisted with floor sets; both to refresh current merchandise and place new merchandise in the store. I frequently picked out outfits for the mannequins and forms and dressed them. However, I also worked in home, beauty, and stationary. I completely re-merchandised our makeup section, our hair section,
and our fragrance section a few times over the course of my internship.
One big project I worked on during my internship was working in display. I helped make and install fixtures, and helped create our window display. I painted the urns, which were the decorative feature of the window display. Check out the images below to see some of the things I worked on!

The biggest thing I learned from this experience that will apply to any future career of mine, is how to creatively solve problems. Often at Anthropologie, we have more product in a concept than what we have room for. Or we have product that doesn’t feel like it belongs anywhere. It is kind of like a puzzle, trying to figure out how to best implement the standards with what we’ve got, whether that’s product, fixture space, or store space.

Another thing I learned from working at Anthropologie is about merchandising various types products. I came into my internship having a basic knowledge of how to merchandise apparel, but not home or beauty products. The best way to merchandise is to pull all products off of a fixture and start from scratch. Sorting things into groups, by the color or aesthetic of the item, is done next. From there it is pretty easy to visualize how and where to place product.
